HOMECOMING COMEDIAN TICKLES YOUR FUNNY BONE WITH BIZARRE SOLO SHOW ABOUT THE HORRORS AND DELIGHTS OF HAVING A SKELETON

After leaving Burque for Portland, OR a well over a decade ago, award-winning physical comedian, Amica Hunter (they/them), is returning to ABQ with their first solo work – ANATOMICA: A Comedy About Meat, Bones, & The Skin You’re In. Amica is a queer, nonbinary, multidisciplinary artist and performer who has been devising, performing, and producing shows since 2012, mainly as one half of the beloved acrobatic duo, A Little Bit Off.

This show, playing one night only at the Q-Staff Theatre, will feature a guided meditation from the perspective of a worm, a slew of scientific facts about a variety of animals, a butt-faced crab (you’ll just have to come to find out), and communication with the audience via a long plastic tube. Part stand up, part story-telling, and part clown, ANATOMICA is a hilarious, captivating, and sometimes-unsettling comedy about the pros and cons of different skeletal systems, and dealing with chronic pain.

Amica has been touring ANATOMICA in the United States and Canada since its debut in February 2023. The show won Best of The Fest in the Cincinnati Fringe last summer, and has since played to sold out houses in Vancouver BC, New Orleans LA, Portland OR, Olympia WA, Eugene OR, Arcat, CA, and Edmonton, AB, where the show garnered a 5 star review and was held over for a special post-festival run.

5 stars out of 5

“Anatomica could hardly be more charming and funny… A brilliant stand-up set disguised as a serious science lesson, Amica Hunter’s show is like the mutant love child of Laurie Anderson and David Attenborough…an hour of chewy, fleshy charm.”

Avast me hearties! seaMAN is here, bursting onto the scene with a whirlwind of revenge-fueled sea-venture combining outrageous physical comedy with a few dark twists and turns. Alternately played by two actors, this one-man-show by two centers a salty old sailor with a vendetta against the entire ocean – it’s like the manic lovechild of Robert Eggers’ The Lighthouse and Gilligan’s Island.

Captain Sea MAN’s 30 Minute Scenic Boat Tour veers off course and audiences are along for the ride, dodging storms, and facing off against unexpected adversaries, from seagulls to upside-down mermaids. But beneath the laughs lies a deeper story of a broken man lost in the depths of his ego. seaMAN features an array of hand designed props, sight gags, puns, mild expletives, physical comedy, and general oceanic hijinks.

seaMAN is written and performed by award-winning fringe festival veterans Amica Hunter (Portland, OR) of A Little Bit Off, and Bruce Ryan Costella (Orlando, FL). With a combined 30 years of experience touring original works on the fringe, Amica & Bruce are proud to team up under the moniker 2 Sleepy RatGuys to debut their first collaboration – seaMAN,  a theatrical concoction that is equal parts stupid and smart, blending Hunter’s expertise in physical comedy with Costella’s skill for clever and nuanced text.
